Pentatonic native flute tuned in D minor, 432 Hz, made with Tunda (cold bamboo) by Iván Zambrano from Mocoa, Putumayo, Colombia with recycled woods.

Putumayo has a rich culture of wind instruments, where the Andean meets the Amazon.

Recycling woods - rescuing ancestors

The instruments are made of trees and plants which for many years were cultivated by Mother Earth. In nearly all instruments you will find a piece of wood which was thrown away. After a while of practicing, the elaboration of many flutes - from the Andes and other parts of the world, he wanted to collect woods from different parts of nature. This is when he decided to go to the places where they through away the remains of woods, and he called this project of his life: "Recycling woods - rescuing ancestors". 

Each instrument has its own essence and vibration, its own soul. So when you play the instrument, it´s like playing a soul, because the woods, bamboos and reeds, before they were taken from earth, were alive. And respecting this energy, the instruments are created.

And this is his way of building instruments, with a different feeling each day, a way of expressing something through the instrument, depending on how your way of interpreting the instrument may be.
